About Edinburgh Festival of Cycling: The 6th Original Edinburgh Night Ride
Sorry, but this event has been and gone!
The 6th Original Edinburgh Night Ride
If you’ve never cycled through the night, on quiet roads, here is your chance to give it a try: the ride (approx. 60 miles/100 km) takes place around the summer solstice, with groups accompanied by experienced ride leaders. We’ll be making our way along a new mystery route through scenic East Lothian at an easy pace (~12mph rolling speed), with a rest stop and refreshments around half-way, before heading back into town to finish with breakfast.
Our mechanical support partner Leith Cycle Co will again open from 22:00 for any last-minute needs and accompany the ride. You can also book your bike in for discounted tune-up during the week before the ride (proof of registration required).
In its first year, The Edinburgh Night Ride was described as a ‘magical experience’ despite the downpours, the following years were dry and we were told it kept getting even better – so we are doing it again in 2018.
Here are some previous years’ quotes:
“Lived in Edinburgh all my 40+ years and never ventured out in the dark on the bike. Thank you for the experience.”
“I was a little nervous in advance (thinking it would be full of racing snakes wanting to go flat out), but it was absolutely fantastic – very enjoyable and at a perfect pace.”
“Found the attitude of the ride leaders and their assistants great. Very supportive and friendly. Was greatly impressed by the whole organisation of the ride. THANKS”
“For me, it was definitely long enough to be challenging, but with the right Speed to make it a thoroughly joyful experience. Absolutely loved it, many thanks to all leaders and organizers!”
Tickets: £30. All riders must be over 16 years of age.
