About Playtime

Saxophonist Martin Kershaw, guitarist Graeme Stephen and drummer Tom Bancroft are three of Scotland's - and the UK's - leading jazz musicians.

Between them, they have worked with Geri Allen, the Scottish National Jazz Orchestra, Trianglehead, Trio AAB and Dutch string quartet Zapp4, making music that's adventurous, exciting and unpredictable.

Their Playtime sessions at the Outhouse (with bassist Mario Caribe and a whole host of top guests) have been highlights of the Edinburgh jazz scene since they started in 2014, taking the opportunity to play whatever they wanted and reveling in the freedom this gave them.

A Playtime session might feature the music of Thelonious Monk, Bill Evans or the Crusaders or it might be entirely spontaneous. And in the Outhouse's intimate loft space the audience can't help but feel involved.

Fun, challenging, high quality - that's what Playtime brings. Join in on the last session of the year.

While we take every opportunity to ensure the details for Playtime are accurate, we always advise that you contact the event organiser before setting out for the event to avoid disapointment.
