A new age is dawning for the Edinburgh Fringe ... and it begins at 40.
A fantastic line-up of stand-up comedians are uniting to show that good comedy is timeless.
'Laugh Begins at Forty’ offers an ever-changing daily menu of older mirth-makers.
The line-up includes Lynn Ruth Miller - the irrepressible 83-year-old who recently shone on Channel 4’s 'First Dates'.
This showcase of older stand-ups is the idea of comedians Sam Potter (49), Phil Erswell (43) and John Gibson (49).
The trio – who hail from Newcastle upon Tyne – have assembled a host of top Scottish, UK and international comedians who are ready to show that 'Laugh Begins at Forty’ from Saturday 5th to Saturday 26th August at the Edinburgh Fringe.
Sam explained: “We're giving audiences the chance to see a diverse line-up of different comedians every day with contrasting outlooks and styles, but who all share the life experience that comes from being that bit older.
“You'll see experienced professionals with 20-plus years of experience alongside up-and-coming acts who may only have been going a year or two.
“Every day will be different - with acts from around the world, some UK TV and radio regulars, and a strong contingent of established Scottish headliners.”
Top stand-ups already set to appear include Gavin Webster, Jojo Sutherland, John Scott, Vladimir McTavish, Obie, Bill Dewar and more.
Sam said: “It’s going to be a great mix of styles – covering everything from conventional stand-up to character comedy and musical acts.
“Once you've turned 40 you've definitely got more to laugh about, but this show is for everyone, not just those of us in our prime. Come along and join the fun.”
‘Laugh Begins at Forty’ takes place at The Southsider, 3-7 West Richmond Street, Edinburgh, EH8 9EF – from Saturday 5th to Saturday 26th August (excluding Tuesdays) - 1.05pm-1.55pm.
Sam said: “The Southsider is a friendly little pub in the heart of Edinburgh – just round the corner from George Square and a host of festival venues.
“No need for tickets, it's part of PBH's Free Fringe, so if you like the show you can choose to make a voluntary donation at the end. Why not come early to be sure of a seat and grab a cheeky lunchtime drink before the gig?”
