The 9th edition of the Edinburgh Short Film Festival!

Opening night is at the Filmhouse on Thursday October 24th with a programme of shorts, including the 2019 Cannes Best Short Winner, BAFTA Scotland winner and best animation at Fantoche Int. Animation Festival!

There’s a rich and very diverse range of films from Taiwanese animation to Indian romcom to Croatian comedy. There’s 36 UK Premieres, including the 2019 Oscar winning short film, Cannes winners and 27 International film festival award winners, alongside the best of Scotland’s 2019 crop.

We’re hosting a European Film Festival Best Films night, which will see some of our partner film festivals from across Europe screening their best films and discussing film awards and what they look for in short films and a Texan Shorts night curated by acclaimed documentary film-maker,
Prof. Paul Stekler. We’re also holding our new Animation Sundays screenings, featuring curated animation from our guests O!PLA Polish Animation Festival and CEE Animation Forum (Prague) and a New Scottish Animation strand!

Finally, there’s our now-infamous awards night party at Summerhall on Sat 9th and an Animation Party at the Wee Red Bar on our closing night!
